Checklist for Handing over \ Taking over of  Second Mate 

Handing Over and Taking Over is a critical thing for safe operation of ship.

A "officer or Cadet "should make a ship specific register so that your notes will be with you for future Use also.

As " Second Mate" of a ship, Taking over second mate can consider below points. 

1. Charterer Party Requirement ( Print out\ softcopy in which folder) (Speed\weather\ bunker consumption)
2. Important Folder and  files in computer (Location in computer)
3.  Copy of ship particular
4. Special instruction from Charterer or Owner
5. What is the current Voyage Number
6. Cargo onboard \ stowage
7. Next Voyage (any instruction)
8. Port rotation (if any)
9. Daily Reporting  (Arrival, departure and Noon report)
10. Monthly and Quarterly Paper work  
11. Password (Bridge computer etc)
12. Any defects in Bridge equipment (any Mail sent to company (date and to whom))
13.  Any dispensation 
14. What is the name of Marine Superintendent. 
15. Last Navigational Audit report

ECDIS \ Paper Chart \ Publication correction.

1. Status of Chart and Publication correction.
2. Name of Nautical Chart\ Publication supplying agency.
3. Certificate of Nautical Chart\ Publication supplying agency should be pasted on bridge.
4. How to order New charts
5. Procedure to correct ECDIS charts.
6. How to check edition of chart.
7. ECDIS base DVD.
8. Email ID of the person concerned (in company and chart suppling agency) 
9. Where is the Pen drive for ECDIS kept.

20. Any defects ( Defect list, email to company).

Store inventory

1. Updated inventory should be taken from outgoing Second Mate (Navigation equipment paper roll, Log Book etc).
2. Updated Medical inventory (including Narcotics list).
3. Inventory should be checked again.
4. Critical spares (click here) should be checked and if required requisition should be raised.

Certificate and Records

1. Certificate (File number, Location)
   

Maintenance status (Planned Maintenance system)

1. Login Id and Password of PMS software 
2. How to update.
3. Any job overdue.

Rest Hour

1. Login Id and Password of Rest Hour software. 
2. How to update
3. What is being followed for Watchkeeping in Port ( 6on\6 off or 7on\5 off).  

Requisitions

1. Status of Requisitions.
2. Requisition which will be coming on current port
3. Procedure to raise requisition

Documentation 

1. Daily, weekly, Monthly, Quarterly Report.
2. File and Folder from where "Data for Reports"  is to be taken. 
3. Vetting preparation by  Second officer (click here).
   

Defect List  (Navigation)
