Drills (comply with SOLAS Chapter III)

Main aim is to help Ship’s crew to train, revise and refresh about:

  • Various emergency.
  • Roles, responsibilities and actions.
  • Use of various LSA\FFA equipment.

Abandon ship and Fire Drill

  1. Drill should be conducted as per drill planner which is made as per Flag Administration requirements.
  2. Abandon ship shall take place within 24 hours of the ship leaving port if more than 25% of the shipboard personnel have not participated in abandon ship.
  3. Fire drills conducted once month.
  4. Drills shall be planned in such a way that due consideration is given to regular practice in various emergencies that may occur depending on the type of ship and its cargo.
  5. Drills, shall as far as practicable, be conducted as if there were an actual emergency.

Equipment used in drills shall be refilled\ made fully operational and put  back in place\location as per plan.

Any defects or faults  in the equipment discovered during drills shall be rectified as soon as possible and should be reported to company.

General Emergency Alarm : Seven or more short blasts followed by one long blast on the ship's whistle or siren and additionally on an electrically operated bell.

Fire Alarm : Continuous sounding of an electrically operated bell.

Abandon Ship Signal : Shall consist of the general emergency alarm signal followed by the spoken word 'ABANDON SHIP' by the Master of the vessel or Chief Officer in the event of incapacity of master. 

Emergency equipment (click here) should be kept in readiness at all times.
